Budget smartphone ‘Nokia 2.2’ launched in India with 13MP camera, 3000mAh battery

Nokia has launched an introductory level smartphone, the Nokia 2.2 with some decent specifications and an attractive price. HMD Global chose to make simultaneous launch of this model in India and in Italy.

Here are the details of the specifications of the phone:

The new Nokia 2.2 sports a display that is 5.7 inches in size and the LCD display offers a screen resolution of 720x1520pixels and a pixel density of 19:9. You can see the bezels all around and the notch on top as well. The processor chosen by HMD for the Nokia 2.2 is the MediaTek Helio A22. It’s a quad core chipset with a clocking speed of 2GHz but can be expected to give a decent performance. The CPU gets support form 2GB RAM while there is a 3GB RAM variant available as well. The internal storage levels will be 16GB and 32GB respectively on these two variants.

The operating system is the Android Pie based lighter version Android One. The interesting thing is the Nokia 2.2 will transition to the next version of the Android OS, the Android Q as soon as it is released with the same lighter version.

The optics section has been kept quite simple with a single 13MP sensor forming the main camera in the rear and a 5MP selfie camera housed under the notch in the front. There is a 3000mAh battery to power the device. The connectivity options and the sensors on board are quite comprehensive matching the segment in which the smartphone is being positioned in.

There are two colours in which the Nokia 2.2 has been launched, Steel and Tungsten Black.

Now to the pricing of the phone: the Nokia 2.2 smartphone with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is being offered at Rs 6,999 and the 3GB/32GB variant at Rs 7,999. These prices will hold only till the end of this month. Effective July 1, the prices will be Rs 7,699 and Rs 8,699 respectively. The phone can be pre-booked till June 10 on Flipkart and Nokia’s online store.
